One of our customers kindly put together a spreadsheet for calculating the electricity costs of a vivarium. You can download it from our electricity cost calculation page.
How the spreadsheet works
- Enter your equipment in the orange fields: the name of the item, its wattage and how many hours a day it runs.
- Below that, enter your current electricity price in euros per kilowatt hour.
- The spreadsheet then works out what your vivarium costs per day, per month (30 days) and per year (365 days).
Useful for solar too
It also calculates pure consumption, so you can see at a glance how much electricity a solar installation would need to cover.
A heat panel uses around 30 % less electricity than other forms of heating – something that shows up clearly over a year.
