The right vivarium
At least 150 x 60 x 60 cm with climbing opportunities, hides, a suitable substrate and a basking spot.
Temperature, lighting & climate
- Daytime around 35 °C in the basking area and around 25 °C in the cooler area
- Night-time around 20–23 °C
- UVB lighting is essential – for vitamin D3 production and bone health
Feeding
Omnivorous: juveniles eat mainly animal protein daily, while plant matter dominates as they mature. Do not forget the necessary supplements.
Temperament & handling
Good-natured and diurnal, changing colour with mood and surroundings. A very rewarding animal to observe.
Without adequate UVB lighting, bearded dragons are at risk of serious bone disease. A UVB lamp is essential, not optional.
