Why a heat panel?
A panel is usually the best heating solution and uses around 30 % less electricity than other heat sources.
Recommendations by vivarium size
Dimensions given as length x width x height:
- 80 x 40 x 40 cm: 2 x 22 watts
- 100 x 50 x 50 cm: 1 x 62 watts
- 100 x 60 x 60/50 cm: 1 x 62 watts
- 120 x 80 x 80 cm: 1 x 62 watts on the ceiling and 1 x 62 watts on the back wall (marginal)
- 128 x 60 x 60 cm: 1 x 62 watts and 1 x 42 watts
- 150 x 60 x 60 cm: 2 x 62 watts (marginal)
- 150 x 80 x 80 cm: 1 x 62 watts on the ceiling and 2 x 62 watts on the back wall (marginal)
- 60 x 60 x 120 cm: 1 x 62 watts on the back wall
- 80 x 80 x 120 cm: 1 x 62 watts on the back wall and 1 x 42 watts on the ceiling
- 200 x 100 x 100 cm: 3 x 62 watts on the back wall and 2 x 62 watts on the ceiling
Marginal means the output may or may not be enough, depending on how well the vivarium is insulated and how warm the room is. In cool rooms or with poor insulation, plan for the next size up.
We recommend running the panel through a thermostat – the M&S Reptile Control V3 PRO with dimming and timer, for example.
