Night-time heating: which lamp is right?
Heat panel, infrared or ceramic – warmth without light
Night-time: heat without light
For night-time heating, heat panels, infrared lamps and ceramic heat emitters all work well. They give off heat without producing visible light, so your animals' natural day-night rhythm stays intact.
Daytime: keep an eye on lighting hours
Daytime lighting should follow the natural rhythm of your species – usually 10 to 14 hours a day. A timer helps you keep to it precisely.
Always run heat sources through a thermostat and use reflectors and guards – this prevents overheating and burns.
