Setting up racks: why room temperature matters

Racks need a warm room
Racks have large ventilation areas and are partly open at the top. So there is little point in a heat mat providing 30 °C inside the tub while 22 °C room air flows constantly through it.
Picture a flat heated to 21 °C where the windows are simply barred and it is 13 °C outside – it would never feel comfortable for long.
With racks this effect is even stronger than with vivariums. Racks therefore belong in a warm room of at least 26 °C.
